چکیده
The Quaternary aquifer in the western Nile Delta is threatened by seawater intrusion. Few studies have integrated diverse techniques for assessment of intrusion this aquifer. present study aims to determine geochemical processes and impact on To accomplish investigation, integration hydrogeochemical, statistical, multivariate graphical tools were implemented 75 groundwater samples 5 soil samples. physicochemical variables analyzed using hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), saturation index (SI), ionic ratios, relationships, (SWI) correlations among 16 hydrochemical parameters, identify influencing quality area. According statistical study, divided into four groups. Those are distributed, from north south: Group1 (G1), Group2 (G2), Group4 (G4), Group3 (G3). G1 G2 distinguished Na–Cl chemical type. While G4 has two main ion associations, HCO3–Ca–Mg Cl–SO4–Na, G3 characterized HCO3–Cl–SO4–Ca–Na that affect chemistry intrusion, exchange, silicate Ca-rich mineral weathering, deposition. groups primarily influenced incursion, evaporation, exchange mechanism. In addition, weathering minerals a substantial effect groups, resulting creation carbonate minerals.

Impacts of seawater rise on seawater intrusion in the Nile Delta Aquifer, Egypt.
Several investigations have recently considered the possible impacts of climate change and seawater level rise on seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. All have revealed the severity of the problem and the significance of the landward movement of the dispersion zone under the condition of seawater level rise. Most of the studies did not consider the possible effects of the seawater rise on th...
متن کاملManagement of aquifer recharge in Lebanon by removing seawater intrusion from coastal aquifers.
This study investigates the feasibility of management of aquifer recharge (MAR) in Lebanon by designing well barriers to remove seawater intrusion from the fractured carbonate aquifers. Groundwater flow and saltwater/freshwater 50% sharp interface have been modeled along the coastal area using the Ghyben-Herzberg theory. The groundwater flow simulations have been supported by field transmissivi...
متن کاملAbstraction, desalination and recharge method to control seawater intrusion into unconfined coastal aquifers
In this study, abstraction, desalination and recharge method and SEAWAT numerical model are used to investigate seawater intrusion repulsion in a hypothetical two-dimensional coastal aquifer to understand the relation of seawater intrusion with abstraction, desalination and recharge parameters (i.e. abstraction/recharge rate, wells distance and depth). Abstraction, desalination and recharge con...
متن کاملCoastal Erosion Due to Seawater Intrusion into Groundwater Aquifers
Problem Statement: In general, the drinking water systems sourced from ground water (GW) contains chemicals at double the current maximum contaminant levels (MCL) of colloids. However, due to increasing demand of water, groundwater may be subjected to over-exploitation and the natural equilibrium is thus disturbed. A steady-state condition is established between seawater and freshwater in a coa...
متن کاملSimulation of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers: Forty Five-Years Exploitation in an Eastern Coast Aquifer in NE Tunisia
Management of groundwater resources involves the allocation of groundwater supplies and water quality to competing water demands and uses. The resource allocation problem is characterized by conflicting objectives and complex hydrologic and environmental constraints, especially in coastal aquifers. The development of mathematical simulation models provides groundwater planners with quantitative...
